35W is a shared budget
Apple’s 35W Dual USB-C adapter is a useful example of why the output table matters. Apple lists up to 17.5W per device when charging a Mac laptop with an iPhone or iPad. With a Mac or iPhone plus an Apple Watch or AirPods, the split can instead be up to 27.5W and 7.5W.
Our inference: this is a candidate for a modest two-device charging requirement, provided that split meets your needs. It is a poor choice to assume will sustain a power-hungry laptop and fast-charge a phone simultaneously. Compare against your exact computer’s documentation before putting it on a shortlist.

Make the comparison at the port you will use
Write down which devices will be connected at once. For each candidate, look for the output table for that exact combination. If the manufacturer gives only a total and no simultaneous-port breakdown, ask before buying. Count an included cable only when its specification supports the intended job.
A useful shopping note reads “laptop and phone together at the desk,” not “at least three USB-C ports.” Ports you will not use add little value. A charger that is convenient for overnight use can still be the wrong choice for a working laptop. This is a fit decision, not a ranking of charging speed.
The cable is part of the purchase
USB-IF’s certification program uses 60W or 240W power markings for USB-C-to-USB-C cables. A certified cable does not increase the capabilities of the charger or connected device. The power marking also does not establish display or data-transfer capability.
For a charging-only cable, compare the required power rating and usable length. For a shared desk cable, check video and data separately. Keep the model number with your buying notes so a cable that looks identical does not silently become a different part of your setup.
Compare the total kit, not the adapter alone
Include the cable, any wall-plug adapter, and the number of items you will actually carry. A smaller adapter can be inconvenient if it leaves you with an extra cable or blocks the neighboring socket. Those physical details belong in a return-window check; we cannot establish them from a power specification.
For travel, read the input-voltage marking on every mains-powered device and the destination’s socket requirements. Do not assume that a mechanical plug adapter is a voltage converter. Keep your existing reliable charger until the replacement has passed a normal day of use.
